Let’s complete the race together 30 November, 2006

3 more days, and Dear1 and Dear2 are going to take part in the Standard Chartered Half Marathon.  This is the first time that both Dear1 and Dear2 are attempting a marathon, and Dear2 has been feeling very nervous of late.  It’s the first time that Dear2 is going to run such a long distance, and I really wonder if my stamina can bring me to complete the 21km….  Luckily Dear2 have Dear1 to train with me, and to give each other support.  When tired, Dear2 can hardly talk, and very often, Dear1 will silently give Dear2 the support and assurance that he is always around with me.  With Dear1 around, I am not afraid to stretch myself in the run, for I know that Dear1 will be there to take care of me.  That’s the advantage for couples, to be able to do things and knowing that someone will be there to take care of you.  :)

For now, I just gotto train harder within the next few days, cos time is really running out, and my stamina can only bring me to 6km at max.

Btw, after this marathon,  Dear2 wants to learn Japanese from Dear1, so that we can both share a common interest again.  It’s really nice to share things together as a couple, which is evident from the nice times we had training for this maraton together.  Gambatte yo!!

Hello, I’m here!

始めまして、私はDear1です。どうぞよろしくお願いします。

(hajimemashite, watashi wa Dear1 desu. douzo yorishiku onegaishimasu.)

As you can see, I’m learning Japanese at the moment. In fact, it’s my first formal Jap lesson. I’m having my Jap exam this afternoon. Hope I can do well and move on to the next level, Jap 2. You probably can guess that Dear1 is someone who like Japanese stuff and you can expect Categories like ‘Anime’, ‘Gunpla’, ‘J-Drama’, etc, to pop up every now and then on this blog.

Exams, you say? Yeah, that’s right. I’m a full time student right now and it is exam period once again. Busy busy busy, but I’ll be liberated on the 8 Dec. :D

Currently, I’m in charge of the presentation and layout of this blog. So any changes you see about the colour, the arrangement, the fonts, yadda yadda, is made by me. :) Not that Dear2 is not IT-savvy, just that I’m the currently appointed ‘Creative Director’ for our blog. ;) If you have any suggestions about the layout, feel free to drop me a comment k.

Now, about the reno issue, it’s really hard work. 大変ですよ!(taihen desu yo!) From the initial paper design, to sourcing of Interior Designer (ID), contractors, to material selection, perspective drawing, theming, now execution… wah… we’ve been through quite a bit. Surely got disagreement one! Bottomline is, we are 2 different ppl brought up in 2 different family background. Although we’re puffy*, there’re still bound to be differences in our thoughts and the way we micromanage details. So the key here is still… effective communication. When Dear2 says ‘Huh?’, it means she don’t understand. So it’s time to explain things in a different way, different language, different analogies to get the idea across. Repeating the same sentence in response to ‘Huh?’ is a sure way to piss Dear2 off. :X I guess this applies to most couples out there too. ;) Learn to accept that we are inherently 2 different persons, when you look at things this way, u’ll start to understand why is it that ur other half frequently seems to disagree with you.

*editor’s note: ‘puffy’ is short for ‘telepathy dears’. pathy->puffy.

I’ll try to upload the reno pics when I have more time on my hands. Now, back to mugging for exams. Busy busy busy…

Mars and Venus Lingo 29 November, 2006

Dear1 and Dear2 have bought a cosy 3-rm flat in Bukit Batok. Very excited to complete the renovations den we can move in enjoy our two-ful. Hee….. The walls have been hacked liao, floor tiles laid liao, and today the electricians are doing up the electricity works.

Renovation was the second major project dat Dear1 and Dear2 embarked together, the first one being our ROM preparations. The reno process is indeed tedious, and more often den not, Dear1 and Dear2 have small miscommunications over just small lingo miscomm. Like Dear1 like to say ‘white’ for an obviously beige-coloured laminate, and also lousily use ‘line’ to mean the electricity cables when he meant the ceiling fan ‘string’. Almost drive me nuts, man. Hee…..

Finally, Dear2 concluded that it’s just the differences in how Mars and Venus express themselves. While Venus like to verbalise what goes on in her world and mind as well, Mars generally are men of fewer words, resulting in the very concise terms that they use. So if next time Dear2 feel nutty??? abt what Dear1 is trying to say, gotto:

1) Stop, think and put it in context, or

2) Clarify by verbalising the ‘object’ that is causing her confusion. Obviously, gotto make Dear1 see what is it that is causing the confusion, else everything will be going in circles again.

Complain??? 27 November, 2006

Hmm……… this is the second post. In the past few days since we started this blog, everyday Dear1 and I have been threatening to post on this blog everytime we have a small disagreement. But we never did. Haha….. So it makes me wonder, what is the mentality of bloggers who post all their thots on their blogs?? For me, I would gladly like to think loudly on this blog, for as a typical Venusian, Venusian always need to think aloud for us to reach conclusions. Many a times, the conclusion is so obvious, but Venusian always need others to make us realise that THAT is the simple conclusion. Poor Dear1 gotto always put up with my indecisiveness during the thinking process. *Sayang sayang*

Anyway, back to the original topic, do bloggers complain to no-one-in-particular on their blog?? I wonder. Anyway, I just hope dat Dear1 and Dear2 try to make this blog complainless, cos I dun want this to look like a venue to let out complains. Haha….. Dear2 always believe that good communication is a necessary ingredient in any good relationships, and good communication means sincerely voicing out what u think. Say what u mean and mean what u say. :) Cheerios.

Hohoho…… Dear1 and Dear2 finally set up our own blog. We’ve been talking abt it for some weeks liao, and I told Dear1 to set up the account for me, but Dear1 wants us to do it together. “Wat for? 1 person do can liao mah,” I thot. Oh well, if Dear1 wants to do it together, den I’ll listen to him lor. Hee……. So, this is the purpose of this blog: To share with others on what we, Dear1 and Dear2, learn in our times together as a loving couple. Dear1 and Dear2 have been together for 8 years liao, and we have gone thru different phases in our lives. I always feel very fortunate to have Dear1 together with me, to grow and develop in our own ways. They had been times of quarrels, and disagreements will surely be part and parcel of a couple being together, dat’s why I wanted to start this blog, to document the lessons dat we learn, so that the future will hold less and less of such same mistake.

Ok, here’s some information on Dear1 and Dear2:

- Both Dear1 and Dear2 are turning 26 next January.

- Dear1 is 11 days older den Dear2, hence why he is Dear1 and I am Dear2.

- Together for 8 years, ROMed in Aug 06.

Ok, Dear1 is complaining abt my post. Let me end off with a picture taken during our ROM.
