Mummy and Papa went on a Date

It has been more than half a year since the world battles the coronavirus, and everyone’s feeling the cabin fever/ limited social interaction to some extent. Seeing that Singapore’s situation was stable and under control, Mummy and Papa decided to let the kids have a stayover at Ah Gong and Ah Ma’s house. They were estatic!

We packed only pyjamas, clothes, toothbrush and toothpaste for them. Wow, what a vast difference compared to when they were younger, where they still needed their milk packets, pillows, towels etc. Last time when we were kids, we basically just went over to the cousins’ house empty handed with not even a change of clothes!

Anyway, after dropping Baby1 and Baby2 off on a Saturday evening, Mummy and Papa started our twosome date. We went to the (boring) Westgate so that we can get home conveniently after a beer.

First, we had a nice, quiet dinner. Then we went shopping. Mummy bought 3 tops from Uniqlo while Papa got shoes and a bag. What a bliss to be able to try clothes and shoes and bags in peace and in no hurry. We go to Westgate twice a week for ballets, but we are usually not in the mood to shop, cos there will always be the time contraints, or having to entertain/lug at least 1 kid.

After that, we went to Brotzeit for drinks. Usually, we don’t take alcoholic drinks outside, cos Dear1 needs to drive. So today, we left the car at home and took public transport instead. We ordered a glass of beer each and some bites which came out to be HUGE! Had a nice time sipping beer and munching and chatting with Dear1. We left at 10 and had a nice walk home from the MRT station, something which we had not done in a long while since having our car 11 years ago.

Last activity for the day was watching the movie “365 Days”. Again, it’s been a long while since we watched an X-rated film at home, cos we are so scared of kids popping out from their bedroom!

The next day, we woke up to a drizzling morning hence disrupted our plan to go East Coast to cycle. Changed the plans a bit, and we headed to PLQ Mall. Suddenly missed the kids a bit so we video-called them to find them on Ah Gong’s bed watching cartoons, something which they have never done cos we usually don’t turn on the telly at home, much less cartoons in bed on a Sunday morning?!

We saw people queuing to go into a store in the basement, so we followed suit and I had a blast of a time shopping in Scoop Wholefoods Australia. Everything looks so organic and healthy so I had to buy some stuff too, 2 bags full!

Finally we went in search of Poke Theory and had a nice and quiet lunch there before picking the kids up for their ballet lessons in the afternoon.

It has been a loooong time since the kids went for a sleepover and Mummy and Papa get some time to ourselves. There was one time when we went on a date, I remembered shopping for all kids stuff. We were supposed to go on a date and spend time on ourselves, but we both ended up only looking at things for Baby1 and Baby2. This time, we made sure to spend time on ourselves, and on each other. Letting the grandparents jagar the kids once a while is good – the kids had lots of fun being away from home, the grandparents get to spend time with their grandchildren, and Mummy and Papa get to have “we” time too. One stone kills three birds!
