Buy, buy, buy! Week 27

Yeah, there’s finally a public holiday after sooooo long of no public holidays, so, this weekend is a long weekend with the Hari Raya Haji falling on Friday, yeah!  With so many more things to buy, it’s gonna be buy, buy, buy, this long weekend!  Hopefully there’s some really good discounts this long weekend, cos this is the public holiday before Christmas!  (But as Dear1 and Dear2 later found out, retailers didn’t really make good use of this public holiday to give good deals, what a disappointment….)

The week started off with Dear1 and Dear2 rushing down to the Aussino at Westmall branch to get another set of the comforter set.  We’ve been to Causeway Point and to Plaza Singapura, but the remaining designs of the same comforter set were the ugly ones, and it seems that Westmall still offers the best selection, hence we have to get THAT comforter set from Westmall quickly!  Haha…

During the week, Dear2 had 2 days of tummy upset.  Not those kind of diarrhea flows, but you can feel the tummy upsetting inside…. Luckily the ‘spoilt’ stuff finished their exit by the end of the second day, and it was ‘normal’ produce after that, phew…

The 6 bottles of stretch marks cream was still in ample supple at this point of time, and Dear2 was just finishing the last bits of the 2nd bottle.  Hmm… Perhaps we have been using it too stingy-ly already – 3 more months to go in 4 bottles, let’s try to use it more sparingly from now on.  Tummy, thighs, breasts, back…  Now that baby is getting really big, gotto stretch the skin more to make more room for baby!

Finally finally came the weekend.  We went to the newly opened City Square to buy the cot and Pigeon sterilizer from Metro. Bad choice – the Metro was small and didn’t have both items that we wanted.  The Pigeon sale was over as well as it was a ‘while stocks last’ promotion.  Luckily the auntie at Metro was kind enough to help us enquire with the Woodlands branch if they still have stock.  Lucky!  Woodlands branch had 1 piece of the promotion sterilizers left, so of course we had to reserve it, quick!  We quickly left City Square, becos there wasn’t much else that we wanted to get from there, and that the ‘Eco Shopping Centre’ really was so eco-friendly that the air con was impossibly NOT COLD for a shopping complex.  We wasted the $2.50 per entry parking charges – becos we didn’t spend at least 2.5 hours in the place and that we didn’t get at least $80 worth of purchases to get free parking as intended.  :(

Next was OG at Bugis, a short drive away from City Square.  Again, disappointment as we didn’t get anything cos the 20% store wide sale did not apply to most baby items.  The shopping centre was also extremely packed with aunties and squeezing within the aisles was just not an enjoyable shopping experience with the H1N1 concern nowadays….

We went in search of the ‘cheap baby wear shop’ opposite the Chinese temple.  It would have been an easy find on usual days, but the shop decided to close earlier on this public holiday, and only a mtb emerging from within the nearly-closed shutters that we knew we had the right shop.  Located right opposite the temple, among the row of shops selling Chinese produce, on the extreme left corner, beside the large ‘Toilet’ sign was this shop selling baby wear and other garments at distributor price.  We got some towels and handkerchiefs and baby pyjamas all at distributor prices, and left Bugis feeling satisfied.  :)

Finally, we rushed down to Woodlands to get the cot and sterilizer, earning approximately 6% rebate using the Passion Card to purchase the Metro vouchers, and then rushed down to IMM to exchange the scratched Stylus pot with Guardian.  At the end of Fri night, Dear1 and Dear2 were bashed…

Saturday saw us attending the first of the TMC ParentCraft lesson, an antenatal class conducted by the  famed Mrs Wong Boh Boi.  Due to her popularity, or rather the dis-popularity of the other nurses, Mrs Wong will be charging more for her lessons starting from 2010 onwards.  Heng for us again, haha…. But her accent and intensity of the contents and exercises taught were a bit incomprehensible, so I’ll bet that most students will forget her teachings by the end of the week, haha….

We bought a 5-tier Toyogo chest of drawers with wheels for $55.

On Sunday, Dear1 and Dear2 specially went to the Toyogo warehouse at Toa Payoh to get the chest of drawers for baby’s stuff.  Beware!  This place is  not suitable for mtbs like Dear2 – everyone seemed to be in a rush, pushing and rushing, with all the big big and small small plastic wares.  Dear1 and Dear2 quickly got our stuff and left the place with a fright….

And finally finally finally, the last of the spree items was collected from the mtb staying in Bedok.  We had to make this trip specially as our schedules didn’t work out on those days when we were in Bedok, so this was really a trip specially to come collect the Gymboree goods.  A lesson learnt – don’t buy spree from mtbs who stay out of the way, cos the collection will really be a hassle….

What a shopping experience this weekend.  Still a couple more things to buy, and it’ll be no more shopping after that, haha!
